Family and Social Services Administration

The Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is Indiana’s government agency responsible for serving the needs of aging seniors and is a valuable resource for you in caring for your aging parents.  You may visit the Aging Services section of FSSA’s website to view the following:

Another excellent resource is the FSSA INConnect Alliance, which is a network of the state’s Area Agencies on Aging.

Indiana Area Agency on Aging Locations

Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has created a network of Area Agency on Aging locations. Collectively, this network is a significant resource for support in managing issues related to aging loved ones. Each location offers information and referrals to various services, as well as case management service. You can see a full list of all 16 locations, including links to the website of each, on the FSSA Area Agencies on Aging webpage. Note that these agencies also provide services to individuals with disabilities. They are also sometimes referred to as an Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).

Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging

Another valuable resource is the Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging (IAAA). Their website is especially helpful for giving critical updates on important issues, such as when a vaccine is available and being administered to the elderly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The site also contains an advocacy section providing information about what’s happening with both state and federal policies impacting seniors.

Traditional Arts Indiana (Indiana University Bloomington

In response to Indiana’s ranking by Gallup for the health and wellbeing of older adults, the Traditional Arts Indiana created and offers the Creative Aging Summit to Indiana communities. The Creative Aging Summit encourages and showcases creative practices of seniors in traditional arts and strives to improve senior’s overall quality of life through the arts.
